The moving labor services provided by Coastal Moving Labor are only one aspect of your self-move, and many other factors can contribute to the overall success of any move. As the customer, you can help ensure the safety of your belongings as well as the overall ease of your moving experience with a few considerations:
Provide the necessary equipment to safely complete your relocation. We only provide moving blankets or furniture pads on full local moves, as we would otherwise not be able to get them back upon the job’s completion. Blankets and plastic stretch-wrap, or some sort of protection, is always a good idea to have with you when performing a move. Coastal Moving Labor will be happy to use your provided protection to cover all appropriate items that we will be loading. Coastal Moving Labor cannot ensure that your items will not be damaged without proper padding and protection. Upon completion of each job, or portion thereof, Coastal Moving Labor cannot and will not be held responsible for any damages occurring to household goods during transport or after the completion of the job.
Coastal Moving Labor performs all jobs on a hourly and quarter hourly rate basis, with a minimum charge of three hours. Total job costs are subject to change if there are any excessive delays, including weather, traffic, difficult access, emergencies, and other unforeseen events that may cause our crews to work under abnormal circumstances. It is also solely the customers responsibility to ensure that a sufficient amount of loading space has been provided for each job, allowing Coastal Moving Labor the ability to safely and securely load all the required household goods, without the risk of damages due to overloading or insufficient space. Coastal Moving Labor will not attempt to overload any truck, trailer, storage unit, or container.
The customer shall never be liable for any injury that may occur to our movers on the job site, which results from inclement weather, equipment failure, or any other normal moving condition. Coastal Moving Labor cannot drive your rental truck or other vehicle, nor are we responsible for any damages that may occur to such equipment. Coastal Moving Labor has the right to postpone or refuse performing any task if it is believed to be hazardous to the movers or the customer’s belongings.
It is ultimately the customers’ responsibility to protect all floors, walls, doors, windows, and any and all other property associated with the moving locations. Coastal Moving Labor will take every precaution necessary to avoid damaging any property, including using pads to protect doors, floors, and hallways, not including stairs or stairways for safety reasons, upon request; however, we are not responsible for any damages if they do happen to occur to any portion of the property.
Coastal Moving Labor provides all of our customers with a coverage called “Released Valuation”. Released Valuation offers coverage of up to $0.60 per pound, per item, for damages that occur to your household goods, which are directly caused by our movers, while the item is in their possession and they are still at the job site. Since we are exclusively a moving labor company, Coastal Moving Labor is not required, nor are we allowed to provide any supplemental insurance policies. Check with your renters/ homeowners insurance, along with the truck rental company, if you would like to consider any additional coverage.
Since Coastal Moving Labor does not transport your household goods over public roads, we are not able to oversee, nor can we maintain possession of these belongings throughout the entire duration of your move. There are many exclusions associated with “Released Valuation”, and our liability for damages is generally limited to our time on the job site. Once Coastal Moving Labor has departed from your location, we will no longer be liable for any damages or defects that may occur.
List of Exclusions:
We are not responsible for any items that were improperly packed by the customer. The structure of boxes, bags, etc. are easily compromised by overbearing weight and/or insufficient packing.
We are not responsible for the loss of any items.
We are not responsible for any damages that may occur to items or property once we have left any of the moving locations or during transport.
We are not responsible for any damages to items that are not in their appropriate or original packaging. (Example: Flat screen TVs in their original box, bed/box spring covers, couch covers, etc.)
Coastal Moving Labor will not, under any circumstances, attempt to move any over-sized items that should be relocated by a separate company that specializes in moving these items. (Examples: pianos, pool tables, gun safes, hot tubs, large workout equipment, etc.)
We are not responsible for any damages that may occur as a result of assembly, disassembly, or re-assembly of any items. We are also not responsible for damages to any unsteady or structurally unstable furniture, including particle, press board, and any self-assembled items. (Example: IKEA, Amazon, Walmart, homemade furniture, etc.)
We are not responsible for any injury, or any damages that may occur if the customer, or any other non-representative of Coastal Moving Labor attempts to assist with the move, or is otherwise at the moving location during the duration of the move.
*Please note, it is illegal to attempt to withhold payment (full or partial) as collateral for your move if damages do occur. We will handle all damage claims as quickly and efficiently as possible once the move has been completed.
*To properly file a claim, please notify any on-scene crew member of the damages that have occurred. Then, we ask that you take pictures and document the damages as completely as possible. Finally, please call 971-403-0966 to submit your claim.
